Shakira honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame

Shakira, the renowned singer, has made history by becoming the first ever Colombian artist to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony, which was held on Tuesday, saw Shakira join other Latin stars such as Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera on this famous street. She expressed her gratitude towards the Latin community in the United States and dedicated this achievement to them. Shakira acknowledged their relentless efforts in making America a better place to live in. Fans gathered in large numbers on the iconic Hollywood Blvd. sidewalk to witness this historic moment.

In the 90s, Shakira became a sensation in Latin America thanks to her album “Pies Descalzos” and popular songs like “Donde Estas Corazon” and “Estoy Aqui.” Her second album, “Donde Estan Los Ladrones?” achieved global recognition and included hits like “No Creo” and the Middle Eastern-influenced “Ojos Asi.”

Afterwards, the Latin vocalist released a record in English called “Laundry Service,” joining the ranks of bilingual performers such as Enrique Iglesias and Martin, who also dabbled in both Spanish and English music. Her hit song “Whenever, Wherever” became a chart-topping sensation in various European nations, and the Spanish version of the same song even won her a Latin Grammy award.

Shakira fondly recollected her first visit to Los Angeles at the age of seven. While walking with her mother, they passed by the Walk of Fame. Her mother pointed out that one day Shakira’s name could be featured there.

The musician has been awarded two Grammys and was recognized for her work with Beyonce in the song “Beautiful Liar” and Wyclef Jean in “Hips Don’t Lie.”

Shakira’s newest album, “Sale el Sol,” has been nominated for the 2011 Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, taking place on November 10th.
