During the summer of 2015, AMA Animal Rescue located in Brooklyn received a report regarding a pit bull that was found in a park. When the rescuers arrived at the location, they were taken aback by the poor state of the dog. The elderly pit bull was chained to a wall with extensive fur loss, and there was a putrid odor emanating from its body. The animal was in such a dire condition that it could hardly stand up. This was one of the most extreme cases of animal abuse observed by the rescue team. Despite its terrible condition, the pit bull displayed enthusiasm upon seeing its rescuers. Its tail began to wag as soon as the team approached, indicating that the dog knew it was being saved.
AMA Animal Rescue provided some sustenance to the pit bull before releasing him from his chains and taking him into their van. Upon entering the vehicle, the dog promptly settled down on a cozy blanket and dozed off. The rescue team then transported Norman to a veterinary facility where he received medical attention for his various health issues.
During their visit, the rescuers discovered that in addition to suffering from malnourishment and infected wounds, Norman was also dealing with deafness, blindness, and arthritis. The veterinarian informed them that this senior dog was already ten years old, and it was evident that he had not received much affection or attention during his decade of life.
Norman received treatment from the vets in the form of IV fluids to combat his infections, and they provided him with ample food and water to aid in his recovery. As soon as he was deemed fit enough, they started working out with him. Norman’s joy knew no bounds as he wagged his tail non-stop while undergoing these exercises at the clinic.
AMA Animal Rescue uploaded a delightful clip on Facebook where Norman is relishing a bully stick. Watching him enjoy the treat was a sight to behold as he appeared to be in much better spirits!
As soon as Norman recovered and was fit enough to leave the hospital, AMA Animal Rescue took to their Facebook page and put out a call for people who would be willing to foster the lovely dog.
AMA Animal Rescue successfully located a wonderful foster family for the pit bull, resulting in a positive adoption experience for all parties involved. Norman’s foster parent showered him with affection, and he reciprocated the loving gesture in return.
Norman was finally going to his forever home after being in a foster home for three weeks. His new mom had taken measures to ensure that he would be comfortable by installing a ramp at the back porch that led to the backyard. This was especially important as Norman suffered from arthritis. As soon as Norman arrived at his new home, he was immediately drawn to the yard and was filled with joy. It was apparent that he was content and overjoyed to finally be in his forever home.
Norman’s life was nothing short of amazing with his mother and adorable new sibling. He held both of them in high esteem and his tail would wag uncontrollably whenever he was around them. Without a doubt, Norman had finally found the ideal family to call his own.
Regrettably, Norman passed away in the month of September in the year 2016. However, he had a splendid last year as he was finally showered with love and care after being ignored for his entire life. During this one year, the affectionate dog relished the feeling of residing in a warm and affectionate home.
